Jamie Hoffman

Hi, I’m Jamie Hoffman.

I’m an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist in California, and I work with individuals, couples, and families navigating anxiety disorders, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), and hoarding disorder.

Anxiety, OCD, and hoarding disorder are not one-size-fits-all. They are far more complex than the popular culture stereotypes. I often see clients struggling with intrusive thoughts, perfectionism, or relentless self-criticism, which are all aspects of OCD that can be overlooked. Hoarding disorder was considered a subtype of OCD until 2013, and the two conditions still overlap in meaningful ways. I work with my clients to decrease the difficulty of parting with items and identify the emotional connections to possessions so that daily life is less overwhelming.

In sessions, I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), and Narrative Therapy. I hold a certificate in Trauma-Focused CBT and am currently completing level one Gottman Method training, which I use when working with families and couples. I am also pursuing further training in ERP through the Cognitive Behavior Institute to offer effective, evidence-based care for the complexities of OCD, anxiety, and hoarding. In addition to these specialties, I’m passionate about supporting new moms and, at my training site, I developed and co-facilitated a support group for mothers of young children facing anxiety, depression, and other postpartum challenges.

I always hope to create a safe space where you can make therapy anything you need it to be. I celebrate both our commonalities and differences in sessions, as I bring my own perspective while honoring yours with intention and care. I believe people are often more resilient than they may recognize. Together, we will build practical strategies that support growth, healing, and meaningful change at a pace that feels manageable for you.

A bit about me: I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and moved to Southern California in 2012 after beginning a career in media and the arts. Creativity remains an important part of my life. When I am not in session or pursuing further training, I am usually creating art, taking a Pilates class, or spending time with my husband, our son, and our cat. Our family time often revolves around finding new ways to burn off toddler energy, which has made us unofficial experts in parks, snacks, and creative distractions.

If you would like to learn more or see whether we might be a good fit, I offer a complimentary 15-minute consultation. I look forward to connecting with you.
